James Sterritt is a long-time guitar player and teacher, who specializes in advanced theory as well as jazz theory, and jazz and classical guitar.
Sterritt excels at teaching students improvization techniques for all styles of playing, and teaches theory both on guitar and keyboard.
Sterritt started playing guitar at age 12, and teaching not too long after that. He majored in Theater/Music Composition at Columbia College, and currently composes scores for local plays and arranges and produces music with his company, Meridian Ensemble Productions.
Sterritt is skilled at helping students and fellow musicians compose, arrange, and orchestrate songs and scores, going above and beyond teaching to play the instrument and basic theory.

He currently plays live shows around Marin County, and has a regular spot at Cafe Amsterdam on Wednesday nights.
