Meet Chie Treagus

Chie is a second generation Korean. She grew up in Kobe, Japan. Chie started taking piano lessons at the age of seven and then to the U.S. in 1994.

Chie fell in love with Jazz. At first she studied Jazz at a community college, then later at Sonoma State University's Jazz Music Department. Chie obtained BA in Music with Jazz Vocal emphasis. After graduation, Chie studied classical voice.

In 2005, Chie became an American citizen. After trying various occupations such as home care nursing assistant, waitress, receptionist, Chie started making her living as a music teacher. While enjoying teaching music, she also discovered her passion for songwriting.

In 2009, Chie released her first album "A Short Day's Journey" under the band name Soul Of Sparrow in collaboration with her husband, Steve Treagus, who is also a songwriter and guitarist.

In 2011, Chie released a self-produced album of original songs "Sand Castle."

In 2018, Chie released her second self-produced album "I'm A Canary."

She is excited to begin teaching and inspiring students at Bananas at Large.
