Meet Kevin White
Kevin began playing bass when he was 11 years old, had his first professional gig at the age of 14, and has been on the road, on the stage, or in the studio ever since. Early in his career, he was a member of the House of Blues house band in Cambridge, Mass. where he cut his teeth playing behind a Who's Who of legends that included Bo Diddley, Susan Tedeschi, Ronnie Earl, David Maxwell, Joe Walsh, Peter Wolf and others.
In the late ‘90s, Kevin relocated to San Francisco and was sucked up into the local scene, playing with a dizzying array of artists until he caught the gig playing behind Shelby Lynne supporting her debut record. He soon found himself crisscrossing the globe, highlighted by an appearance on the "Jools Holland Show" in London.
During this time, Kevin was also a first-call bassist for Will Porter and the California All Stars. While with Porter, Kevin played with Grammy winners Al Wilson ("Show and Tell") and Billy Preston as well as soul legend Barbara Lewis ("Hello, Stranger"), The Coasters, and The Drifters.
In 2004, Kevin started playing with Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express. In 2008, Kevin appeared with Chuck and band on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "Last Call with Carson Daly. It’s been 15 years, and he’s still with the band. He can be heard most recently on the 2017 Yeproc release “Bobby Fuller Died For Your Sins.”
In 2006, Kevin started playing with San Francisco rock band Luce and worked with the band until 2013. He can be heard on their 2014 release “Corner of the World.” 2006 was also the year Kevin toured the U.S. with New Orleans guitarists Papa Mali and John Mooney and with California blues artist Chris Cain.
2008 saw Kevin tour with Nashville Americana Band The Bittersweets, and San Francisco rock Band Halsted. Kevin can be heard on Halsted’s 2010 release “Life Underwater” and their 2014 “High Wire & A Heart of Gold”.
In 2014, Kevin started playing with Oakland indie rock band Everyone is Dirty, as well as Oakland Americana band New American Farmers, which features former Alarm drummer Nigel Twist. He also began playing with East Bay singer/songwriters Sean O’Brien and Melissa Phillips.
2016 was the year Kevin started playing with West Marin’s San Geronimo
In 2019, Kevin was touring less with Chuck Prophet, which allowed him to work with a long list of touring and local artists including: Bloodshot recording artist Ruby Boots, Floating Record’s Jeff Halford and the Healers, Hablador Records, Ian Moore, San Francisco singer/songwriter Brad Brooks, Oakland garage rock band Ardent Sons, and Oakland instrumental guitar band Little Muddy, and JZ and the Stranglers.
He's appeared on stage with John Doe, Charlie Sexton, Jon Langford, Kelly Willis, Henry Butler, Earl Thomas, The Mastersons, Peter Case, Peter Buck, Alejandro Escovedo, Noelle Hampton and Beth Waters and Heather Combs.
