She is committed to encouraging the creative life of young people, and her work with private students and composer residencies has engaged and inspired children to achieve a high artistic level. She teaches classical, jazz, and pop, to children, teens and adults. Students learn improvisation, sight reading, keyboard harmony, and songs from their very first lesson. Practice videos and fun musicianship apps make the lessons come alive for practice sessions. Her interest in world music has taken her around the globe, including a tour in South Africa with the Sontonga Quartet where she was featured in the documentary “Inner Landscape”. Her compositions embody multi-cultural fusion, so musical influences from jazz to Argentinian tango, to Cuban montunos, to Indian raga are threaded throughout her work. She performs her chamber music throughout Northern California with her longtime colleagues from the San Francisco Ballet and Opera Orchestras. D’Arcy holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in piano and composition from Mills College. Teachers include Terry Riley, Katrina Krimsky, and Emilio Solla. About Lindsay Everly Lindsay has dedicated her life’s work to music education, performing and the music industry. Her diverse background as an On-Air radio personality in alt rock, completing her masters degree in the UK, studying and teaching in Ghana and performing at venues across the U.S. has benefited students in many ways. She believes in cultivating the individual talents and interests of students, while laying a strong foundation of essential skills that will serve them no matter what musical direction they take down the road. She teaches classical & jazz piano, rock/pop voice and songwriting. She has eight plus years of experience in private instruction and classroom teaching and loves what she does! She performs regularly at Johnny Foley’s Dueling Pianos in downtown San Francisco and for other dueling piano companies across the country. She also writes and releases original music. Various other groups, theater shows, school affiliations, and pickup bands round out a typical monthly schedule. Michael was especially honored to be the bassist for Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks 2012-2016. Musical parents – his mother a piano teacher and his father a blues/rock guitarist – gave Michael an early inspiration to create music and a wide exposure to musical styles. His musical path became a full time occupation when he formed a band with his friends in the fledgling Sonoma County “Jam Band” scene circa 1990-94. He went on to study Jazz and Classical music at Santa Rosa Junior College, Cabrillo College, UC Santa Cruz, Ali Akbar College of Music, and San Jose State University, acquiring various certificates and degrees along the way. But his primary education came from learning on the job in the various Jazz bands, show bands, dance bands, symphonic orchestras, pit orchestras, jam sessions, and of course from the recordings and performances of the masters who came before. Michael began teaching guitar around 1995, and immediately recognized that it was a valuable gift to be able to help aspiring musicians learn and grow. He has taught piano and guitar as a primary occupation (along with performing) for more than 10 years in Marin County, solid references on request. Michael’s approach to teaching music is generally focused on fundamentals, proper technique, and fluency in the language of music. A wide variety of materials and repertoire can be used, and older or more advanced students are encouraged to bring pieces that they are interested in. Improvisation, Jazz/Rock/Pop theory, traditional Western music theory, and musical etiquette are topics that come up if there is interest or demonstrated need. Need help booking a lesson? About Scott Lawrence Scott believes in the importance of learning the basics and developing a firm grounding in reading and basic technique. Currently he has students from ages 6 to 60, from beginners to advanced.Scott started playing piano at age eight and was performing blues and rock in junior high and high school. He began working as a professional pianist at age 19, which led to a successful career in performing, recording, and touring. After becoming enamored with the jazz music of Dave Bruebeck, Scott went on to earn a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from North Texas State. He has played all popular styles professionally in small clubs, theaters, and international venues including Carnegie Hall, Oakland Coliseum, and Wembley Stadium in London, England. Scott has performed with famous artists such as Jesse Colin Young, Country Joe, Norton Buffalo, Barry Melton, Malo, and Mary Wells. His piano performances in Rock, Blues, Jazz, Pop, and Latin appear on over 25 albums. Scott played with Jesse Colin Young on seven albums on Warner Brothers.Scott helps students improve music reading and sight-reading. He can teach how to transcribe tunes off recordings from any genre. For example, his students have had fun learning popular hit tunes and even themes from video games.
